- PSAT Test for Juniors and Sophomores

The PSAT test is Wednesday, October 13 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
This is mandatory for all juniors and any interested sophomores. It is a practice SAT test. Juniors’ scores automatically enter them into National Merit competition. Juniors are automatically registered; any interested sophomore needs to sign up and pay for the test by Wednesday, September 1st. The cost for the test is $20. Checks can be made out to STM and submitted to Mrs. Bedwell. For more information on the test, follow this link: collegeboard.com

- Plan Test for Sophomores

The PLAN test is Wednesday, September 15 from 8:00 to 10:30 a.m. in the cafetorium.
This is for all sophomores. It is the second test in the ACT line of testing (EXPLORE is the first) and provides an accurate assessment of a student’s academic achievement. - Senior College Planning Meetings

There are many college application procedural details that Mrs. Bedwell needs to cover with all of our seniors. For that reason, College Application 101 will be offered on Tuesday, August 31st at 6:30 p.m. in the cafetorium. It is highly recommended that every senior and a parent/guardian be present for this brief meeting. It will not last more than one hour. If you are participating in an athletic event that evening, please ask one of your parents or a guardian to attend in your place.

- Important: Student Pre-arranged Absences for 2010-2011
-
Pre-arranged absences may be granted for family trips, other appointments, vacations, extended vacations, non-school sponsored athletic contests, etc. Therefore, with the exception of absences other than medical, dentists, funerals, and family emergencies, notice must be made in writing and verbally five (5) school days in advance of the absence. Failure to pre-arrange the absence will result in an unexcused absence(s). Prearranged absences are not allowed during semester exams. Arrangements must be made with the attendance office and a pre-arranged form must be completed. The students have the responsibility for securing each teacher’s signature and completing all class work as the teacher requires. This could be before the absence. No make-up work will be allowed for an unexcused absence.

- STM (ABO) Athletic Booster Organization Fall Kick Off

Fall Kick Off fun begins at 5:30pm on Friday, August 20th at STM. The ABO invites all STM families, friends, and students to meet the fall athletic teams, buy your STM Saberwear, and visit with old and new friends. Team introductions will be promptly at 6:00pm on the football field. Scrimmages for boys soccer, girls volleyball and varsity football will follow. The STM band will play and the cheerleaders will cheer. A special welcome is extended to all new STM families for this first pep rally of the year. Support the STM teams by purchasing your dinner at the concession stand. For questions, contact Mrs. Peggy Monahan at monahanp@sbcglobal.net or Mrs. Joyce Wagner at wagner1989@comcast.net.

- ATTENTION: ALL STUDENTS TAKING HONORS CLASSES

Please be aware of the fact that if an Honors Class requires summer work, it must be completed on time or Mrs. Bedwell will be informed and you will be dropped from the class. NO EXCUSES!
On rare occasions, Mrs. Bedwell is unable to accommodate a class change request because of the way our master board is arranged. It could possibly be, then, that switching from an Honors Class to a regular class is impossible. In that case, there are three scenarios:
1. You would not receive that class at all and have to make another choice.
2. In the case of American History Honors/Regular, you would have to think about summer school. This is a required class for graduation.
3. You would start the Honors Class with a deficit average.If you have any questions, please speak to the teacher of your Honors Class.

- Congratulations to the Class of 2010!

The High School of Saint Thomas More held is Baccalaureate and Commencement Exercises on Sunday, May 23rd at 2pm for eighty-six students. STM was honored to have the Knights of Columbus leading the procession. Father Robert Lampitt served as Celebrant with Monsignor Albert Hallin, Monsignor Gregory Ketcham, Monsignor Mark Merdian, Father Joseph Hogan, Father Steve Willard, and Deacon J. Robert Ulbrich in attendance. Gina Hinders and Justin Telthorst were the recipients of the Saint Thomas More award. Valedictorian Elizabeth Anderson warmed the hearts of those in attendance as she spoke to her fellow students. Students were recognized at the Annual Honors Luncheon on Friday, and all award winners are listed below, as well as the $2.2 million in merit scholarships awarded to STM students. God’s blessings to the Class of 2010 as they continue their journey.
