Fine Arts at STM

It is our belief that every person is endowed by God with a creative spirit and is capable of and compelled to exhibit creative thought and expression through visual art, music, drama and dance. We also believe that all people can appreciate and enjoy the creative expressions of others. It is the goal of the Fine Arts Department at the High School of St.Thomas More to guide students in developing the skills to become creative and expressive individuals. We also believe that education in the fine arts promotes learning in all disciplines and that students trained in the arts will be more successful and well-rounded individuals. The Fine Arts Department strives to provide curricula that introduce and guide student development in artistic skills and aesthetic perception. The department encourages students to think creatively and critically about themselves and the world around them. We strive to guide them to an understanding of and ability to evaluate their own and others' visual cultures. We challenge the students to apply their artistic skills competitively and share their talents altruistically.
