STM Athletic Programs
Saint Thomas More's organized sports programs allow students many opportunities to develop their athletic abilities while learning about teamwork and the competitive spirit. We have over 10 varsity athletic teams for men and women in sports such as football, basketball, cross country, and others. Saint Thomas More's smaller size offers students the opportunities for leadership or greater playing time that they may miss at a larger school. At STM, the emphasis of its athletics program is emotional, mental, and physical development.
As ambassadors of STM to other schools and the community, all student athletes are responsible for upholding a high standard of Christian conduct and sportsmanship in all activities — both during school and after. Our motto is one of respect for each other, the opponent, officials, and oneself.
As a member of the Sangamon Valley Athletic Conference, Saint Thomas More "Sabers" play schools of similar size within central Illinois. Our coaching staff has direct experience in each of the sports we offer. Our full-time athletic director oversees all scheduling as well as our growing list of sports venues, which includes football and baseball fields, an 1,100-seat basketball and volleyball court, a weight-training center, and modern locker rooms.
