One vital part of the Mission of the High School of St. Thomas More is to assist parents in forming students intellectually. This formation of the intellect is rooted in the understanding that we are made in the image and likeness of God and share in His wisdom and knowledge of the created world and of the world we have been made for. This flows into our classrooms, where our teachers are dedicated serving our students by challenging them to seek Truth.
Thus, academics are an integral part of Saber life. In order to prepare students for college and career life beyond STM and for an eternity in heaven, we offer learning opportunities in a multitude of curricular areas. In Theology, studied by our students all four years, our students learn the richness of the Catholic Faith and develop a relationship with Christ through lived experience. Foreign language offerings of Spanish and Latin focus on the study of culture as students learn to listen, speak, read and write in their chosen language, stepping into solidarity with our brothers and sisters of other languages and cultures. In English classes, our students study traditional grammar and vocabulary, investigate questions of morality through classical and modern literature, and practice the elements of rhetoric, writing and speaking to be able to express Truth. Through Science classes, our students explore the order of creation in physical and life sciences specifically rooted in the truth that man is made in the image and likeness of God. As they attend History classes, our students learn how man has sought to build the Kingdom of God on earth, from antiquity through modernity. As they attend Physical Education classes and study Health, they learn about the virtue of competition and making healthy choices to keep their bodies temples of the Holy Spirit. In math classes, students learn the logic and order of numbers as they take classes from Algebra to Calculus, and all things in between. Our elective offerings in computers, art, and music allow our students to share their talents by participating in the creative mind and genius of God. In all curricular areas, our students seek truth, goodness, and beauty, but ultimately aspire to know, to love, and to serve God in their lives.
